Holodomor Commemoration – Ukrainian Educational and Cultural Center, PA

90th Anniversary of the Holodomor Ukrainian Famine Genocide Commemoration

The Ukrainian Educational and Cultural Center of Pennsylvania is hosting a Holodomor commemoration on November 12.

Special Presentations by:
Guest Speaker: Michael Sawkiw, Jr., Chairman of the U.S. Committee for Ukrainian Holodomor-Genocide Awareness
“When We Starve” Documentary – Short Documentary describing the physical, psychologic and spiritual suffering of people during the Holodomor. The documentary is in English. It was produced and directed by: Dr. Borys Buniak.
Musical Performance by Ensemble Verba – A newly formed collective rooted in the musical traditions of Ukraine’s villages. Composed of long-term members of the NYC-based Ukrainian Village Voices, Ensemble Verba is especially interested in folklore as a living tradition and performance as a conversation between old and new, authenticity and instinct.
Original Poem – An original poem authored and recited by Vera Hubitska, artistic director of the folkloric theater group in Philadelphia.
Holodomor Food Drive – Please bring in a food donation that we will donate to the Good Samaritan Food Pantry – Комора Доброго Самарянина by the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Philadelphia. Most needed items: rice, pasta, oatmeal, cereal, non-perishable items
