Candlelight Vigil: House of Ukraine, CA

Commemorating 90th Anniversary of Holodomor

The Ukrainian School of San Diego, in collaboration with the House of Ukraine, will be hosting a candlelight vigil commemorating the 90th Anniversary of the Holodomor. The Holodomor, which took place from 1932 to 1933, is a tragic chapter in Ukrainian history. It refers to the man-made famine orchestrated by Joseph Stalin’s Soviet regime, resulting in the death of millions of Ukrainians. This horrific event is etched deeply in the collective memory of Ukrainians worldwide.

Lighting a candle for the Holodomor symbolizes remembrance and respect for the millions of Ukrainians who perished. Students from the Ukrainian School of San Diego and children of members and friends of the House of Ukraine will present a poignant program that underscores the significance of this tragic event in Ukrainian history.

Please wear vyshyvankas and bring electronic candles. The program will be held in Ukrainian.
